Gaucin is among Andalucia’s scenic pueblos blancos, white-washed villages set in the majestic countryside. Nearby are Jimena de la Frontera and Casares, also celebrated white villages. And historic Ronda is under an hour away. For beach lovers, the coast at Sotogrande is about 30 minutes driving. And Tarifa, the southernmost town on the Iberian Peninsula with its exceptional beaches and charming streets, is also an easy day trip.
Located just a 10-minute drive from Gaucin, Casa Laibon is a modern home designed in the regional style. It is built in the side of a hill in a large natural garden dotted with oak trees, ferns and native shrubs and plants. From the terra cotta-tiled terraces, there are spectacular views across the valley to the mountains of the National Park of Cortes. And with terraces on many sides of the house, you can choose outdoor dining in the sun or shade, as you prefer. Below the house is a lovely mosaic-tiled swimming pool and a covered terrace, ideal spots for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful views. Inside, the spacious house is uniquely designed with a center courtyard around which the entry level is built. Quality building materials include dark wood beamed ceilings, terra cotta tile floors, wood windows, fine fixtures and appliances. Furnishings are casual and contemporary, accented by antique wood pieces. To the right of the entry is the L-shaped kitchen featuring marble counters, wood cabinets, pale tile wall splash and all appliances. Preparation space is ample and there’s a pass-through counter separating it from a breakfast area and a door to a small outdoor dining terrace. Another door from the kitchen opens to a separate dining room with antique country table and chairs for 10 people, wood chest and lovely engravings. It is light and bright with wood ceiling, white walls with hand-painted frieze and several sets of glass doors to the dining terraces. To the left of the entry is the living room with high wood-beamed ceiling, pale yellow walls and fireplace. An upholstered sofa and several easy chairs are grouped near a small coffee table, and glass doors open to the dining terraces overlooking the pool and the splendid country views. The property has a total of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. On the entry level are a bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom with tub. Also on this level are separate toilet facilities. A curving stair case leads down to four bedrooms, each with ensuite bath and glass doors opening to the lower terraces and pool. One is a master suite with king bed and bathroom with double sinks, separate shower and tub. There are three more bedroom suites: two with twin beds, which can be pushed side by side for couples, and another with twin beds most appropriate for children. All have bathrooms with showers. The bedrooms are attractively decorated with bedcovers, side tables, lamps and painted tile wall accents. A spacious and appealing home, well situated for enjoying the scenic countryside as well as historic towns and villages. *Note: except for price periods E, F and G, the property can be rented at a reduced rate for up to 5 people. |
| "The house was lovely, the setting supreme. We had a wonderful trip, saw La Alhambra, Tarifa, Cadiz, Ronda, many other towns and museums. Plus the caretaker couldn't have been nicer - he even made reservations for us. Thanks for your help in planning our stay." |
