The historic town of Ronda is located in the Serrania de Ronda, a region of spectacular mountains. The town itself has a dramatic setting high above the ravine of the Guadelvin River.
A short drive from town, El Rosario sits in a landscaped garden from which there are lovely views of the valley and surrounding countryside. The enclosed grounds feature a pretty blue mosaic-tiled pool, an arbored dining terrace and large garden with pine, plane and cypress trees and a variety of flowering shrubs and plants. Inside, the house is reminiscent of an old Spanish hacienda. It features beamed ceilings, white walls, tan tile floors and a combination of contemporary and antique furnishings. Entry is into the L-shaped living-dining room. In the sitting area, an upholstered sofa and two easy chairs are grouped around a marble-topped coffee table in front of the fireplace. Nearby, the dining area has a dark wood table with mosaic-tile inset and chairs for 8 people. Accenting this comfortable room are large wood bookcases, pretty rugs, colorful pottery and works of art. Off the dining area is the well-equipped kitchen with pretty painted blue and white tile work including counters, walls and a breakfast table. A door from the kitchen and steps lead down to the arbored terrace, garden and pool. There are a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms are all simply decorated with pretty bedcovers, chests, side tables and lamps. The bathrooms also have pretty painted tiles from Granada. To the right of the dining area are two bedrooms including one with double bed and one with twins as well as a bathroom on the hall. To the left of the living area is another twin bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with shower. A spiral staircase just off the kitchen leads up to another twin room from which there are wonderful country views. A charming country home near a historic and lively Andalucian town. |
